Wonderful Life-Time Experience in Camp Island. Kodiak My daughter and I really enjoyed the amazing trip to Camp Island staying in BBC. The cabin is so well equipped with everything travelers would need in such remote place making the stay super comfortable. Bryan did a wonderful job making meals for us with variant food/dessert each day. Fallon & CJ are such great/experienced guides who made us feel safe during our search for Kodiak brown bears and when we were in such close proximity to bears. Nicolai did a wonderful job managing the BBC and is super responsive to our inquiries prior to the trip. We not only enjoyed watching bears catching salmons in rivers/creeks, playing especially those adorable spring cubs but also enjoyed the safaris we did in the island searching for bears. This was really like National Geographic Wildlife Documentary type of experience rather than "Theme Park" type of experience like in Brooks Falls at Katmai National Park where dozes of bears are congregated at the Falls catching salmons. We were much closer to bears watching safely bears catching, eating salmons. We could even hear the cracking sound when bears bite the salmons. Besides the incredibly pristine landscape and the majestic Kodiak brown bears, we also learnt so much about the Sugpiag people of Kodiak. Our guides showed us some of the native village ruins during our hikes there and we even spotted some tools the native made back then. In summary, this was such an incredible and adventurous trip we made in Kodiak Island!

The best time ever! Kodiak brown bear center was the highlight of our trip in Alaska in August 2025. The welcome was perfect, each meal was delicious, the team accompanying us on beat watching was really knowledgeable and friendly. We saw bears everyday but were also able to fish, see foxes, dears and bald eagles. Thank you so much Fallon, CJ and Nick !!!

A Remarkable Experience Our trip to KBBC is an experience that we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives. Multiple salmon runs per year combined with a high bear density resulted in spectacular access to the bears. We actually got to recognize some of the bears and their salmon-catching prowess and other habits. While the bears are spectacular in their own right, it’s the KBBC staff that made our visit truly special. CJ and Fallon were expert experienced guides who brought us to the bears time and time again, and they also kept us laughing from dawn to dusk. Brian is a wonderful chef who served up succulent breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Tamara kept the lodge comfortable and first rate. Nick and Stacey orchestrated the whole show. Most rewarding, the entire staff eagerly answered our questions and offered insights about Alutiiq culture, society and family life. And I need to mention … the cabins are first class! Our visit was wonderful from start to finish.

Fabulous !! Words fail me to be honest. What an experience!! Pretty much perfect. The island is beautiful. The lodges are comfortable & well planned with fabulous view. The staff are all so lovely. The food is delicious. The bear spotting just amazing! We saw multiple bears on every trail walk at close range but felt safe & informed with the brilliant guides, CJ & Fallon. There’s a gorgeous little fox who comes to visit & deer walking around too. It’s just so tranquil & pretty. Good for the soul !! We’ll definitely be back !

Magical Experience. Magical experience. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff: CJ, Jeff, Bryant, and Tamara. Accommodations were excellent - comfortable, modern, clean. Couldn't have been better. Only complaint was that there was too much good food - LOL.

A Perfect Adventure In general we had an exellent stay. Meals, accomodation and services were perfect. The every day tours on boat and by hiking to watch bears were always succesfull. We took a lot of top fotos and have seen many nice scenes of "bear behavior"! On the other hand, the price/performance level is challenging, too.

Dreamy Bears Our 5 days at the Kodiak Bear Center was truly magical. Our guides Fallon and CJ were amazing and the food by Brian was unbelievable. We saw so many bears doing so many different things, we lost count. This place is a bear lover and a photographers dream. The entire staff made us feel like family and we are still floating from such a wonderful experience.

Incredible experience We had the most amazing trip here at the start of the season. We did two boat trips a day to different points around the lake where we walked along trails or viewed bears from the water. The lake is beautiful and we were lucky to have days of bright sunshine. The lodge is so comfortable. The rooms are warm and spacious with a great shower. The communal room where meals are served is fantastic with huge windows so you can spot bears from inside. Bryant the chef is incredible and the food was delicious. The guides we had - CJ and Fallon - were really knowledgeable and also really fun. They made themselves available to answer any questions and we always felt safe. Fallon’s ability to spot bears from huge distances was unbelievable! We saw so many bears - fishing, swimming, climbing trees, sleeping and even trying to break into the garbage store at the camp. It was incredible to see them in their natural environment. The scenery and the other wildlife - foxes, eagles, deer - were also amazing. This was the trip of a lifetime that we now want to repeat

Wonderful lodge & great bear viewing An amazing place. A brand new lodge created by the native corporation on an island in the middle of the refuge. Amazing facilities, rooms, lounge area. Kind, generous, helpful staff. Excellent equipment. Great chef & service. Highly recommended as a way to get into the backcountry in a luxury environment & see wildlife. Hiking & physical activity opportunities are limited but there is a little hiking required.

Aug Trip to KBBC - Awesome; Amazing Bear Viewing | Amazing People KBBC is spectacular. A float plane ride starts your adventure leaving the main town of Kodiak Island heading south. Mountains dressed in emerald green and rugged landscapes are your views, an hour later you are landing on Karluk Lake away from everyone. The Lodge is well appointed with magnificent views of the lake, mountains and Kodiak Bears. You are immersed in this untouched nature preserve your entire trip. Each day you go out for 2 - 3 hour bear viewing trips. You observe the majestic Kodiak Bears in their nature habit; eating, playing, sleeping along the rivers and lake. We saw Kodiak Bears on every trip out our week there. The people who manage and lead you through your time there are also fantastic. They were helpful at every turn, had dinner with us every evening, a pleasure to be around. The meals were outstanding as well. If that is not enough the cabins/accommodations are excellent. Well appointed cabins with all you need to rest, clean up and continue to take in the breathtaking views. Its simply a once in a lifetime trip. We highly recommend you to go KBBC.
