Steelhead fishing at the Kodiak Brown Bear Center is unreal. The Karluk River is home to one of the largest Steelhead runs in the Last Frontier. In addition to great Steelhead fishing, there are also resident Rainbow Trout, Dolly Varden, and Silver Salmon. The fish are plentiful and the views spectacular!

To help you catch the Steelhead of your dreams, the KBBC has partnered with FishHound Expeditions, a renowned fly-fishing guide company, specializing in remote excursions in Alaska. Together, FishHound and the Kodiak Brown Bear Center have put together an adventure filled 5-day, 4-night package that will ensure fly fishing enthusiasts have an incredible experience while enjoying all of the luxury the KBBC has to offer and the rustic beauty of remote rural Alaska. You may also enhance your bear viewing experience by adding a guided salt water fishing trip from one of our partners in Larsen Bay (Larsen Bay Lodge) or Old Harbor (Kodiak Sportsman’s Lodge).  Call 907-433-7900 for details.
Larsen Bay Lodge offers saltwater and freshwater fishing in the Larsen Bay area which is a ten minute float plane ride from the Kodiak Brown Bear Center. They have a fleet of boats, a float plane, and experienced guides to put you amidst all the fishing action around Larsen Bay!
Kodiak Sportsman’s Lodge is located on the southeast side of Kodiak Island in Old Harbor, Alaska, an approximate 30 minute float plane ride from Camp Island.  The lodge is nestled behind Sitkalidak Island and was rated the number one fishery in protected waters. They claim to have the best Salmon and Halibut fishing in the world!  The waters around Old Harbor are  rich in candlefish, herring and other bait fish which creates a very productive area for trophy Kings, Silvers, Halibut and Ling Cod.
